Summer Vacation- Day 34

Lazy Sunday

Tonight we had ribs.  We invited some friends over, but they cancelled last minute due to an illness, so we had all this food to eat, by ourselves.  It was delicious!

After dinner, Brennan started a fire to roast marshmallows so we could make yummy s'mores.  The kids did their reading while we waited for the fire to die down.

They are doing so awesome with their reading!  Jacob has almost every popcorn word memorized for kindergarden and has started sounding out words.  Hailey is almost to the point where she could be reading on her own.  I'm amazed at how reading for only 10-15 minutes every day, for 5 weeks has seriously improved their reading skills.  We have 6 more weeks left and I wouldn't be surprised if Hailey is reading on her, maybe even Jacob too.

James loves books as well.  He really likes the Buscuit books. He loves to bark like a dog, just like Buscuit.

We have an outdoor sound system in the backyard, so often times we play some music while we're out back.  We were playing the Louis Armstrong station on Pandora and the kids really got into one of the songs.

Ah s'mores! This is what life is all about.

This was cute.  The neighbors were having a party in their backyard, so the kids went over to spy on them.  Hailey asked Jacob once they were done if he thought they looked like they were having a good time.  I think they were a little jealous.

Every night before bed we pray, read scriptures, and then read stories with the kids.  One of the kid's favorite things to read is The Friend.  It's fun to watch them enjoy themselves :)
