The a Pacific Science Center
We love the Pacific Science Center here in Seattle. They make learning fun and the kids love it.
James got to play with a toilet and learn how it works. The toilet by the way is one of his favorite things to play with at home. Just look at his obsession. You can almost read his mind, "the toilet, the toilet, must play".
James got to play captain of his own ship.
The museum has a nutritional section about food and our bodies. The kids can play a game by picking up a food items from off of the conveyer belt, behind Hailey in the photo, and create meal plans for one full day. The object is to keep the day under a certain number of calories. Hailey did pretty well with this.
Jacob on the other hand thought that a healthy day of food consisted of pizza, hamburgers and fries, sodas at all three meals and chocolate cake. He didn't pass the first time he played it, but then he figured it out by the second time through.
I loved this display on how our brains perceive wether we have enough food or not, just by what we serve it on/in. For instance, studies have shown that people eat less food the smaller the plate they eat off of. The bigger the plate, your brain thinks you need to eat more because there is more room on the plate for food. The same applies to cups and bowls. If you eat with smaller utensils, then you put less food into your mouth at a time, which allows your brain to catch up with your stomach to tell you when your full. Very interesting things to consider.
We always visit the butterfly exhibit, it's one of the kids favorite things to see.
The butterflies are pretty cool.
James tries so hard to be obedient (not really). He wants to touch all of the butterflies.
