The kids are in baseball this fall, which Jacob is loving and Hailey is tolerating.
Hailey earned a medal for being the MVP this past week because she actually put a lot of effort into the game and caught a lot of grounders. It's hard though being the only girl on the team. I think if she were on a team with all girls, she would like it a lot more. We'll have to find her something in the future.
She's a stud when it comes to hitting the ball. Way to go Hailey.
Baseball has been so awesome for Jacob! Jacob struggles with confidence issues. He's mortified that if he makes a mistake, everyone will laugh at him. He spent most of the first practice/game refusing to participate. So Brennan and him just practiced throwing and catching. Towards the end of the game though, Brennan convinced him to play in the game. On the very last play of the game, Jacob was standing out in the field, when a batter hit the ball in his direction. It was a perfect play, Jacob caught the grounder, turned to Brennan who told him to throw it to first base, Jacob did just that, the ball made it to his team mate and all the parents and coaches erupted in huge chears and excitement for Jacob. It was impactful and Jacob has played every week since. By the way, Jacob might be a lefty. He seems to use both hands equally.
Jacob getting the ball.
Poor James, he wants to play the game more than Hailey and Jacob. He throws a fit for half of the game because he keeps trying to join in. I spend all of practice just walking around the fields, keeping him entertained. He's so cute though.
