Summer Vacation- Day 5

The real Man of Steel.

Girl of Steel.  Jacob is showing off the pictures of Legos he wants to buy, while Hailey does the splits.

Update on the summer reading.  The kids are doing awesome on their reading and they haven't missed one day yet. They have improved soooo much over just one week of constant reading.  It just amazes me.  I'm trying to get Jacob to memorize the 25 words his kindergarden teacher is going to want him to memorize this next year and he has already memorized 6 of them!  I have found that it's fun working with Hailey on reading.  It's a good refresher course on the rules of literature.

Now to the main event of the day.  Today we went on a nature trip.  (Jacob thinks he is way cooler than dad)

We decided to drive out in the middle of nowhere outside of North Bend.  We took our bikes down a trail and stopped to have lunch by a stream.

The kids, like always, had a ton of fun and found Mother Nature to be a playground.

James found a huckleberry bush and devoured every berry.

Brennan trying to catch a fish for the kids.

So this is funny.  Brennan caught a fish for Hailey.  Keep scrolling...

While I was taking this picture here, James had climbed up on a rock and fell backwards into the stream, completely submerging into the cold water. This is everyone looking at James.

Poor buddy was soaked, but no worries.  Mom packed an extra pair of clothes :)

And dad caught another fish.

As soon as we got home, Brennan started cleaning out the van.  Hailey wanted to help and help she did!  She did an awesome job scrubbing and drying the car mats.

James helped daddy repark the car :)
