We have a pool here at the apartment complex and we've been using it every day since we got here. Rain or shine, we are in the pool.
As you can see by the pictures though, we are the only ones using the pool. We occasionally run into people during the evenings, but during the day, no one is at the pool. It's kind of weird. I think it's because there are so many Indians in our complex and none of them ever really go to the pool. So it's actually really nice because it's never crowded on these "hot" summer days. (it's gotten as high as 80 degrees, oh Seattle)
The kids have really taken to swimming. Hailey is 5 years old and she can swim on her own now. I don't worry about being with her when she swims. I can just sit by the pool and watch her. She is such a good swimmer, she can do the crawl while turning her head to breath, the back stroke and the breast stroke. We've been taking lessons at our athletic club and they don't mess around when it comes to swimming. Our experience with other swimming centers has been much more relaxed. It seemed like their intention was to get the kids to be able to swim so they don't drown. Here, they are more focused on technique. I think Hailey could be one awesome competitive swimmer if she keeps at it. She is really good and she seems to love it.
Jacob is doing really well too. He is working on doing the crawl and taking breaths. He can swim a little in the deep end, but not without an adult. Jacob actually does a lot better when he works one on one with dad, then when he is in swim lessons. Jacob gets into trouble during swim lessons because he would rather play then listen. Bless his heart, he's only 4. We are so proud of that boy. He is so brave and daring. I swear, we have had to save that boy from drowning so many times, but it never scares him. He just jumps right back in. He never gives up.
