Hailey is a Reader

Through the month of March, Hailey was challenged by her teacher to read 20 minutes a day for 4 weeks. She had to read everyday, which was something that we do anyway, but we had to push the time out to make it a little longer than usual.

Reading is hard to try and learn. It's like trying to learn a new language. It requires a lot of concentration and for a 6 year old, that can be hard to accomplish. Mostly because its hard to get them to commit sometimes. There were days hen Hailey did not want to read, so we had to take it 5 minutes at a time. We found that giving weekly awards for reading a certain amount was helpful too.

In the end Hailey accomplished 810 minutes of reading over a 4 week period. That's 250 minutes above her goal. We had to celebrate, so we used her Certificate to Red Robin that she earned from school for accomplishing her reading. We are proud of Hailey! She's rocks our world.
